“Most PLA plastics are manufactured up of lengthy polymer chains which can be challenging for water and enzymes to split down. Our exploration adds sugars into the polymer chains, linking every little thing collectively by bonds that can be broken working with UV gentle.
“This weakens the plastic, breaking it down into lesser polymer chains that are then more sensitive to hydrolysis.
